Coed U11 & U13 AA Coaching Call

U11 Tier 1 HEAD COACH

 

The Melville Minor Hockey Association (MMHA) is accepting applications for the position of the U11 Tier 1 Head Coach for the 2024/2025 season. The U11 Tier 1 team plays in the South East Minor Hockey League within its member centers in the province.

 

MMHA is seeking an individual who wants to develop young athletes by instilling the values of MMHA including hard work, commitment, and determination in a positive and fun environment. Candidates should be able to demonstrate prior coaching experience (prior coaching at the U11 level is an asset), hockey knowledge, good communication skills, and good organizational skills.

 

The U11 AA Head Coach must have, or be able to achieve the following certifications:

  • Development 1 or High Performance 1 Certification (Recommended)
  • Coach 2 Level
  • Respect in Sport
  • Checking Certification
  • Goalie Coach Certification (or Assistant Coach must have)
  • A current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
  • A valid driver’s license

 

The roles and responsibilities of the job include:

  • Work with the MMHA Board of Directors/Tier Director and Development Director on an as needed basis to maintain development programs for U11 aged players;
  • Attend the U11 Fall Evaluations and continue to evaluate players through an exhibition series;
  • Prepare and deliver a season plan including off ice requirements, practice plans and game line ups;
  • Select qualified assistant coaches, team manager, and other team personnel as needed;
  • Attend the U11 Tier 1 scheduling meeting in the fall to plan the MMHA U11 Tier 1 season;
  • Attend the MMHA Coach’s Meetings as required;
  • Develop an ongoing program that provides a consistent experience for players and parents;
  • Liaison with other AA coaches in the Association to develop long term program development; and
  • Assist in the fall development camps as required.

 

MMHA will accept applications from both independent coaches as well as parent coaches where applicable. All things being equal, independent coaches at the AA level are encouraged.
